I made my first move overseas in the late ‘90s… leaving Baltimore, Maryland behind for a new life in Waterford, Ireland…
I didn’t choose the location. My boss at the time wanted to set up an editorial office on the Emerald Isle.
And our family was up for the adventure…
Ireland is an English-speaking country, we told ourselves. This should be a breeze…
But that first month, living out of a hotel room with our 8-year-old daughter, my husband Lief and I felt as though we’d touched down on a completely different planet...
The things we’d taken for granted back home… like finding a place to rent, enrolling our daughter in school, buying a car, hiring staff for the new office…
took at least twice as long as we’d figured.Seven years later, when we packed up for Paris, I expected an easier ride. But here we were in the Land of Red Tape… with barely a few words of French…
Four years later came Move #3 to Panama City. This was our first time living in the tropics… trying to adjust to the humidity. And our first time living in a developing country where the “mañana attitude” was in full swing…
With each move, Lief and I had to figure things out on our own. We did this through trial and error… lots of error… and we hit more dead ends than I care to remember…
Don’t get me wrong… I have many happy memories from these years…
But in the early days of each move, there were times we could have packed it all in and gone home…
I’d hate for that to happen to you…
Just as much as I’d hate for you to never get going in the first place… all because, right now, you don’t know where to turn… or who you can trust…
That’s why I’ve compiled this 52 Days To Your New Life Overseas E-course…
With the roadmap I’ve set out for you, you can tend to all the important issues, one easy step at a time… so you’re ready to make your move quickly and with confidence…
Of course, your adventure can be a lot simpler than mine…
You may fall in love with one place… and stay put.
Or maybe you spend just a few months a year overseas… and dodge sub-zero temperatures back home…
Whatever you’re dreaming of, you don’t have to waste another year… or 10… trying to figure it out all on your own…
