STOP Overpaying For Health Care…
Here’s How To Ditch The Stress And
Start Enjoying Life To The Fullest

Dear Live And Invest Overseas Reader,

Forget about sandy beaches, new adventures, or rejuvenation...

The cost of health care alone is all any American needs to look abroad for a better retirement.

A study last year estimated that a couple should expect to spend US$315,000 on health care expenses in the U.S. during retirement.

More than a quarter of a million dollars! It's ridiculous...

Even worse, those costs are quickly growing...

The results of this study are a 5% increase from the year before—what in the world will the cost be for Americans who retire 5 or 10 years from now?

It’s no wonder that a recent Gallup poll revealed that 38% of Americans delayed medical treatment in 2022 due to costs—the highest it’s been in the 20+ years of the poll.

Of course, you already know about the sky-high price of health care in America…

And you probably know it’s not the only problem with the system.

Americans spend on average 8 hours a month (a full workday) figuring out care and insurance for themselves and loved ones…

Americans are living shorter, less healthy lives because our health system is not working as well as it could be.

‐‐International Health Policy And Practice Innovation Program

And most people need to wait at least a week to get an appointment—all for a 5-minute chat with a doctor who too often doesn’t care to get to know you…

Health care is time-consuming and expensive, while also being overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time.

The fact is that the cost of health care in the United States is more expensive than anywhere on earth…

Yet we still have the lowest life expectancy at birth and the highest rate of people with multiple chronic diseases.

Unfortunately, the future does not look bright…

The Association of American Medical Colleges predicts a shortage of up to 124,000 doctors by 2034…

And a recent study concluded that “To catch up with other high-income countries, the administration and Congress would have to expand access to health care, act aggressively to control costs, and invest in health equity and social services we know can lead to a healthier population.”

Well, good luck with that…

The good news?

The world is chock full of opportunities to live a better life, often for much less money than back home…

Of course, as a Live and Invest Overseas reader, I think you already understand that…

You may already be planning a savvy escape to somewhere else pleasant and affordable—and where you can enjoy health care for a fraction of the cost in the U.S..

Frankly, almost anywhere outside America offers sensible, affordable costs for health care...

But the catch?

You need to find the right balance of quality and cost… but I’ll get to that in just a second…

First, let’s take a look at just how much better you’ll fare when it comes to health care abroad...
The World’s Best Health Care…
For A Fraction The Cost You’re Paying Now

It may be the 21st century, but it’s still possible to enjoy very personal care…

Where you, the patient, work in partnership with your doctor to determine the best course of treatment. You’re in control, you’re respected.

In the places we know abroad, doctors and other caregivers take time to get to know you personally... to become familiar with your life and your lifestyle.

They’re able to do this for one very important reason…
It’s the same reason why health care is so affordable in these places…

Because there’s no pressure here from the insurance industry… and no pressure from any pharmaceutical industry either.

The bottom line is that the opportunity for affordable quality care is out there in the world, no matter whether you plan on living overseas or not…

In fact, more than 14 million people travel abroad every year for better or cheaper health care.

I’m sure you already know about folks getting their medications from Canada…

And Mexico alone is the world’s second most popular medical tourism destination, with over a million folks coming every year to work with American-trained, English-speaking doctors.

The cold reality is that countries around the world are now targeting Americans suffering from outrageous costs…

Ecuador, for example, has added to its alluring foreigner retirement visa package by promoting itself as a “Medical Tourism Destination.”
Getting Out From Big Pharma’s Thumb…
With no pressure from powerful companies, you’ll benefit twofold…

First, you won’t be overmedicated. Outside the USA, Big Pharma is banned from offering gifts and money to doctors for prescribing their drugs.

Second, of course, you’ll pay much, much less—take a look at these examples from across the world:

LIPITOR (30 pills)
Used to lower cholesterol
USA: US$430
Mexico: US$15.87

NEXIUM (30 pills)
Treats acid reflux and ulcers
USA: US$199
Italy: US$39

VENTOLIN (Inhaler)
Asthma and pulmonary disease
USA: US$74.32
Panama: US$10.04

GLUCOPHAGE (30 pills)
To treat high blood sugar levels
USA: US$102.33
Ecuador: US$8.70
Five of the top hospitals in Cuenca, Ecuador’s most popular expat destination, have joined together to offer a package deal. They’ll give you an ID card that entitles you to a package of exams and standard prices, at the facility of your choice. You sign up for a bundle of medical services that best suits your needs.

Prices range from US$66 to US$401 for the entire suite. Breaking down the individual items that make up the package, here are a few examples:

  • Chest X-ray: US$25
  • PSA test: US$15
  • Cholesterol workup (Cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, and LDL): US$32
  • EKG: US$25
  • EEG: US$60
  • Hearing test: US$15
  • Mammogram: US$40

In addition, your medical tourist card entitles you to hotel and travel discounts throughout the city, including for things like hot springs and massages.

Even if you don’t sign up for this packaged program, your costs of health care would be shockingly low. A hospital stay in a semi-private room is still just US$30. A private room with an extra bed for family members is US$50, while a private suite is US$75.
What About Nursing Home Care?
If you’re looking to the future, or if you’re bringing a parent with you abroad, we have good news… nursing care costs nothing like it does in America.

One nursing facility we know of is clean and well run with professional staff and residents who are well-cared-for. A friend recently toured this facility and reported back:

“When I arrived (unannounced), I found a group of perhaps 15 residents enjoying the sun in the interior courtyard, while others were exercising with staff members or visiting family.

The total cost is US$450 per month, which includes 24-hour doctor and nurse attendance, food, laundry, personal care, and occupational/rehabilitative therapy…”
A friend of ours, Stephen, had the experience of seeking medical care both in the United States (in Texas) and overseas (Thailand) for the same condition.
Our correspondent reported hassle, wasted time, and $350 in costs in Dallas…
while he spent only $140 and under 60 minutes for the same visit abroad…
Here’s how Stephen describes his experiences…

“Let me give you a side-by-side comparison, Texas and Thailand,” Stephen says.

“To start, in Dallas, I couldn’t get an appointment for three months, because I wasn’t a previous patient. In Bangkok, a doctor visit was available within 20 minutes, no appointment required.

“In Dallas, my visit was at a free-standing clinic, with two doctors on duty. In Bangkok, my visit was at a world-class medical hospital.

“In Dallas, my waiting time was almost five hours—3 1/2 in the main waiting room just to see the doctor, then another 30 minutes in the examination room. In Bangkok, my wait was 20 minutes (remember, this was without an appointment).

“In Dallas, after I’d seen my doctor, I went to fill my prescription. The first pharmacy told me I’d have to wait an hour. So, I drove to a second pharmacy, where I had to wait 30 minutes. Total time, including driving, was 1 1/2 hours.

“In Bangkok, the pharmacy was on-site. My medication was delivered to me 10 minutes after I’d seen the doctor.

“In Dallas, the cost was US$150 for the doctor, US$50 for an ‘extra services’ fee, and US $150 for the medication. In Bangkok, the cost was US$30 for the doctor, US$10 for the ‘clinic fee,’ and US$100 for the medication.

“Bottom line, in Dallas, I spent six hours and US$350 and was frustrated the entire way. In Bangkok, it took less than an hour to achieve the same result. It cost me US$140. And I got fast service… with personal courtesy to boot.”

Stephen’s experience isn’t an isolated instance. It’s just an example of the current reality…

The truth is that you need not be concerned about seeking medical care overseas—in fact, getting care overseas is an important opportunity that can save you time, money, and stress.

It’s a way to enjoy superior and more personal care… with less hassle, less waiting… all at a drastically reduced cost.

Again, even if you’re not looking to live abroad the idea of visiting a place solely for health care, dubbed Medical Tourism, is a loophole for saving a lot of money.

We’ll go over all your options for health care, health insurance, elective procedures, and more during our Health Care Overseas Online Workshop

Where To Go For Better Care—
And Which Places To Avoid…

The truth is that you won’t get the same or higher level of care everywhere abroad…

It will almost always be cheaper, but many countries in certain places to not have the equipment or specialized doctors for certain serious conditions.

For example, one of the world’s top expat retirement havens is a small country with friendly people and gorgeous, sandy beaches…

However, we suggest you avoid this place if you have a serious heart condition. Frankly speaking, while the health care costs are low here, you won’t be able to treat most critical ailments. The good news is that the country is right next door to one of the world’s top medical tourism destinations—but care during an emergency could get dicey.

We’ll talk much more about the places you should avoid during our Health Care Overseas Online Workshop.

What about the places that offer better care for less?

When you think “cheaper than America,” Asia and Latin America are usually the two regions that come to mind.

But health care anywhere in Europe is also much cheaper than the USA, and usually higher quality—take a look at some examples:
France
A doctor’s visit in France can cost under $30…
No surprise here…

France’s health care system, made up of a network of public and private hospitals, doctors, and other service providers, is ranked the best in the world by the World Health Organization (WHO).

France offers universal health care financed by Sécurité Sociale, its national insurance system. Citizens and residents of France can choose their general practitioner from a network of 94,000—one of the highest number of GPs in the European Union.

You can access France’s health care system by paying social security contributions, which means most of the cost of the extraordinary medical care is covered. Even paying out of pocket, though, the care is affordable. A basic consultation with a doctor costs about €25.

For access to English-speaking doctors, resources like Doctolib.fr are available, which lets you filter medical professionals by their backgrounds, training, language spoken.

If you’re adamant about seeing American doctors, visit the American Hospital in Paris. Alternatively, Franco-Britannique is staffed by British doctors.
Italy
Italy offers residents insurance from $40-50 a month…
Coming in second place in the WHO’s rankings of global health care systems is Italy. Its national health service is called the Servizio Sanitario Nazionale (SSN), and it provides care at public hospitals, access to doctors and certain specialists, subsidized medicines, and more at little to no cost.

Public health care is managed by Italy’s regional governments, and there are discrepancies in the standards of care across the country. The best health care is found in the northern and central regions.

As a resident of Italy, you’ll pay between €36-46 (depending on where you live) to enter into this public service.

Some expats opt to pay for insurance to gain access to Italy’s private hospitals, which are more like five-star hotels than hospitals. This allows for more freedom of choice of doctors and facilities, shorter wait times, and more comfort, although it comes at a cost—albeit a fraction of what you’d pay in the USA.
Cyprus
Cosmetic Surgery, IVF, Dental: Cyprus is a one-stop shop for your needs…
Cyprus is a burgeoning medical tourism destination, particularly for IVF treatments, complex investigations, and dental care. Costs are low enough that many pay out of pocket. The average price to see a specialist medical practitioner with a same-day appointment is about €45.

This is also becoming a mecca for cosmetic surgery, with entire resorts by the sea in place for holistic post-operation care.

The WHO ranks Cyprus 24th in the world for overall health system performance. It operates a multi-payer system consisting of a public and private sector. The General Healthcare System (GESY) is the state-run system, which you can gain access to as a resident.

Across Cyprus, you’ll find private and state-run clinics and hospitals as well as surgeries, emergency medical facilities, dentists, opticians, and even alternative health care options.

Pharmacies are abundant as well, and staff can recommend treatments for minor ailments. A range of medications are available, and prices can be as low as one-third the cost of equivalent care in the States.
Portugal
Portugal offers easy residency, good living, and stress-free health care…
Portugal’s health care system is ranked 12th best in the world by the WHO. It boasts a modern, well-equipped hospital network where about 90% of medical staff is English-speaking. Portugal has one of the highest number of GPs per 100,000 inhabitants in the EU at 292.3.

Three systems provide health care in Portugal: The Serviço Nacional de Saúde (SNS, or the National Health Service), voluntary private health insurance, and health insurance schemes for specific professions.

As a resident of Portugal, you can access the SNS, which covers all basic health, by registering with your local health center. While not completely free, user fees are low. Doctor appointments cost €5, for example, while emergency care costs €15.

That all said, public health care in Portugal can be hampered by long wait times to receive care. It’s common for expats to supplement public care with insurance that allows them to access private facilities.

Where else in Europe—and the rest of the world—do we suggest for you?

Fancy A Little Tuck Or A Lift?
In many places around the world, nearly every medical procedure can be a bargain…

That included elective ones… including cosmetic surgery.

As medical tourism becomes an ever-more-viable option for health care-seekers worldwide, certain places are investing in becoming highly competitive in this arena, offering world-class services… at bargain prices.

As you may know, the cost of cosmetic and elective procedures typically comes directly out of your pocket, so you want the best possible care for the best possible price.

Note that cosmetic procedures are not always cheaper abroad—lack of specialized plastic surgeons in some countries and competition at home have left certain procedures, like breast and buttocks implants, around the same price.

But such cases are rare, and you’ll find most popular elective surgeries a bargain:

Hip Replacement
USA: US$39,299
Mexico: US$7,500
Panama: US$12,000
Hungary: US$7,500

Gastric Band Surgery (LAP-Band)
USA: US$14,532
India: US$7,300
Malaysia: US$3,500

Mexico: US$4,500

Face Lift
USA: US$7,048
Hungary: US$5,200
India: US$3,500
Uruguay: US$2,500
Breast Reduction
USA: US$7,000
Panama: US$4,000
Brazil: US$5,400
Costa Rica: US$4,800

Dental Implants
USA: US$4,000
Costa Rica: US$750
Mexico: US$1,250
Israel: US$2,200

Tummy Tuck
USA: US$12,000
Brazil: US$5,700
India: US$3,500
Costa Rica: US$4,000

With such major procedures and even smaller ones (varicose vein treatments can cost but US$30 a session) at these costs, you can expect to save thousands of dollars by going abroad—especially in Latin America and Europe.

And rest assured that you’d be getting the finest standard of medical care.

"My Face-lift Changed My Life"
“I looked 70, now I look 50,” said first-time overseas traveler, Deborah B, from South Carolina, who went overseas for facial cosmetic surgery.

“I turn 56 next month, but before surgery, I looked 70. I would not talk to my granddaughters on Skype because I could see myself. You know, that’s just wrong.”

“Cost was a determining factor in having the work done abroad. I had gone to several doctors in the States, and the price was about US$20,000 for what they all agreed needed to be done,” she said.

To have the same exact procedures done abroad, she saved US$12,000.

“Plus, for the US$8,000 I paid in Panama, I got more done. I added fractionalized laser surgery which would have cost me an additional US$5,000 in the States. I was expecting pain, and I had none. I had zero pain. I don’t remember any pain whatsoever.”

Deborah did her research looking for an affordable quality outcome, not just the cheapest price. Without an event like our Health Care Overseas Online Workshop available at the time, she researched her options for two years before deciding on a well-known plastic surgeon in Panama City, Panama.

If you’re interested in improving your quality of life for less, let us help you figure out just how much money you can save by enjoying health care overseas.

In addition to understanding your potential costs, we’ll also teach you which countries offer the best care for your needs—and which might not

Our Health Care Overseas Online Workshop will take you on a tour of the world, across Latin America, Asia, and Europe, to show you all your options for living better and longer—for less money…

Attendance includes contact information for all experts, as well as guides and checklists.

Waiting Won’t Change Anything…
The Time To Act Now
Nothing is more important than your health…

And the good news is that addressing it abroad well leave much more money in your pocket…

It all leads to more time—and more ability—to spend with your family and friends, and a bigger nest egg to enjoy the finder things in life.

Even if you’ve not yet decided to live abroad, we’ll still teach you how to tackle those nagging ailments with a quick and affordable mini vacation.

Of course, if you know your plan is to retire to another country at some point, you would be wise to organize health insurance that will cover you in that country as soon as possible. Pre-existing conditions, yes, play a role in how insurable you are. But, when it comes to obtaining a policy as a foreign resident, more important than pre-existing conditions is your age. The longer you wait to apply, the more difficult it will be to qualify for coverage…

I can’t think of a good reason to wait this out… the time to act is now.

Attending our Health Care Overseas Online Workshop could save you a considerable amount of money… and hassle… down the line. In fact, it could mean the difference between being able to qualify for international coverage… or being told that, unfortunately, you’ve missed your window of opportunity to do that.

Since we left the USA decades ago, I’ve opted to carry a high-deductible policy and to pay day-to-day health costs out of pocket—that’s how affordable care is in the places I’ve lived: Ireland, France, and Panama. We count on our high-deductible policy to cover us in the case of more extraordinary events.

What should you do?

I can’t make that important and personal decision for you. However, we can arm you with the information and intelligence you need to make it wisely for yourself.

The Health Care Overseas Online Workshop is a unique chance to get answers to your questions on this incredibly important aspect of our lives and budgets.

Likewise, if you’re considering a new life overseas, health care and insurance are some of the most important issues you must address before you make the move.

This online event provides all the tools you need to understand your options.

I urge you to give yourself the opportunity to better your life—sooner rather than later—with our Health Care Overseas Online Workshop.

I hope to see you log on.

Sincerely,

I was amazed at the depth of information

We were truly blessed to have the advantage of [your] experience, networking, business connections, and organization to offer a conference that offered the best and brightest minds from all over the world on a vast number of subjects. I was amazed at the depth of information. The speakers were generous in their advice. I will continue to use the connections established at this conference… Thank you.
