Waking up, your eyes are clear…
Warm sunlight pours through the large, open windows next to your bed…
Outside, the gentle rustling of palm fronds and the lapping of the tide on the white sands beckon…
But you’re in no hurry.
You smile as you turn on some music—it’s funny to think you used to care about talking points on cable news…
Eventually, you throw on a pair of shorts and a T-shirt, grab your sunglasses, and head out for a walk on the beach...
You see several folks you know while strolling the coast…
One friend just bought a boat, just in time to try out some new lures…
While someone else convinces you to join the gang later that night for the hermit crab races at the local bar…
And that couple who just moved from Texas? Turns out are they discovered pickleball, too. Perfect.
Indeed, life here in Belize can be as close to perfect as life can be.
It’s one of the easiest places in the world for North Americans to live abroad…
It’s always sunny… it’s a tax haven… and it’s a true escape from the world.
Here’s the thing, though: Belize is much more than just a Caribbean paradise.
But let’s take a step back first... way back…
The ancient Mayans settled here as early as 1500 B.C…
Spanish conquistadors followed them some 500 years ago…
They were followed by swashbuckling pirates, who took it over as a Caribbean safe haven…
Before they were eventually kicked out by the British Empire.
Centuries later, the British granted the territory independence, and the country's name was changed from British Honduras to Belize.
Mayans, conquistadors, pirates, colonists...
And now thousands of North American and European expats.
Friendly, unassuming, safe, and under-the-radar...
Belize’s colorful history has shaped it into a tiny country that values freedom, independence, and good living above all else.
Despite being the size of Massachusetts, you’ll find enormous diversity here...
